Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity (ADHD) is a natural variation in neurotype that represents a different way of processing, focusing, and engaging with the world. Individuals with ADHD often display unique patterns in attention, executive functioning, energy regulation, and emotional processing. These differences can present both strengths and challenges, highlighting the natural diversity of human brains.

While ADHD is frequently identified in childhood, many individuals do not receive an ADHD assessment until adolescence or adulthood, particularly if their traits have been masked, misunderstood, or misattributed in their earlier years.

ADHD manifests differently for each person. Some may struggle with sustaining attention, organizing tasks, regulating focus, managing time, or dealing with overstimulation. Conversely, others may exhibit higher energy levels, excel in creative problem-solving, and possess the ability to think quickly and innovatively. ADHD can also co-occur with conditions such as anxiety, depression, learning differences, or emotional intensity, making a thorough and personalized psychological evaluation essential.

At Peace of Mind Psychology, we offer comprehensive, evidence-based ADHD assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Our approach is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and strengths-focused, ensuring that each assessment is respectful, collaborative, and tailored to the individual.

Our ADHD assessment process typically includes:

  • Intake interview – To explore your goals, experiences, and background
  • Assessment sessions – Clinical interview and completion of questionnaires, generally over two 1.5-hour sessions
  • Assessment interpretation and report – Your psychologist reviews, analyzes, and integrates results into a comprehensive, personalized report
  • Feedback session – A detailed discussion of your results, emphasizing strengths and challenges, along with tailored recommendations and strategies.
